A little old fashioned

Today marks a holiday celebrating our armed forces and its veterans. It also happens to be a day off for this Taoist and one that will be enjoyed. Lunch with family, looking at the future and perhaps a bit of writing if all goes well. For now, I am enjoying a drink of choice, perfected over years of practice, that just brings me joy. It is funny how it is the little things that really matter.

The printer is going burr printing out Christmas gifts for various friends and family. I might post a picture of one of them after the holidays are over, wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise. It will be a fun Christmas I think, thankfully I am starting early on presents.

3D printing has been an experience over the past few years. It was a graduation present (to myself) after my master’s degree where I picked up my first printer. Since then, I have fallen in love with all that it can do, the playing around with settings and troubleshooting. Since the first printer I have added another this year, a resin style printer, that also has been quite interesting. It’s a little weird, I tend to give up on hobbies after a short while, but I am going on 3 years with 3D printing and its not going away anytime soon. Maybe it’s the sheer amount of stuff that you can print and that it is always changing… I don’t know for sure.

For now though the printer is running, I have another printer to fix this weekend and some planning on next steps in the printing process. Thoughts are open about a business centered around 3D printing, be it selling models or prints I haven’t decided. Need more practice with modeling. I think I will have to toss it back on the battle plan again next quarter. Though that depends on if things change in the near future, might not have much time to model depending on how things play out.

For now, I have models to slice and print, prep for Christmas in just over a month and otherwise try to cram in 6 months of work into 2 because reasons… we will see how that plays out. But for the moment I am enjoying my drink, watching some political/cultural commentary and otherwise not sleeping. But that is alright.  Sometimes we need to stay up a bit to clear the mind.
